Sy Selected as Honorable Judith Kaye Scholarship Winner
November 14, 2024 |Rivkin Radler is proud to announce that attorney Elizabeth Sy was selected as a winner of the 2024 Honorable Judith Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship. She was presented with the honor at a special awards ceremony held on November 13 at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse in New York City.
The scholarship was established by the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association and is awarded to up to five female litigators with the goal of increasing the number of women prepared to serve as first chair in large commercial cases. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have practiced commercial litigation between two and 10 years since their admission to the New York State Bar. The scholarship will cover the registration fee for the 2025 session of the Commercial Litigation Academy—a two-day program that brings together an outstanding panel of distinguished and well-known commercial litigators, current and former in-house counsel and judges who will provide valuable insights on federal and state commercial litigation.
“I am honored to be one of the five female commercial litigators to accept the esteemed Honorable Judith S. Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship Award that represents a commitment to promoting diversity and excellence in the courtroom,” Elizabeth said. “Receiving this award not only honors the legacy of an inspiring trailblazer, but also empowers me to overcome the barriers faced by women in the law and learn the skills necessary to excel in the courtroom.”
Elizabeth is an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Practice Groups. Her practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, including matters involving business transactions, real estate, restrictive covenants, brokerage commissions, insurance coverage, trademarks, trade secrets, and environmental issues.
