Elizabeth S. Sy is an Associate in the Firm’s Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Practice Groups.

Elizabeth’s practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, including matters involving business transactions, real estate, restrictive covenants, brokerage commissions, insurance coverage, trademarks, trade secrets, and environmental issues. A portion of Elizabeth’s practice also involves defending professional liability claims against attorneys and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. Elizabeth has completed 40-hours of mediation training approved under Part 146 of the Rules of the Chief Administrative Judge.

Elizabeth is a proud supporter and member of the Board of Directors of Hope For Youth, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to facilitating positive changes in the lives of children. She is also the Vice Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee and a member of its Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

In January 2019, Elizabeth received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Touro Law Center for providing an exceptional level of service to the Law Center and serving as a role model for graduating students. Since 2021, Elizabeth has been named a New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Star. The Risings Stars list is comprised of the top 2.5% of lawyers in the New York metro area under the age of 40. In August 2024, Elizabeth received a 2025 Best Lawyers in America® Ones to Watch recognition, which is given to attorneys who are earlier in their careers for outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States. In November 2024, Elizabeth was selected as a winner of the Honorable Judith Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship, which is awarded to up to five female litigators with the goal of increasing the number of women prepared to serve as first chair in large commercial cases. In December 2024, Elizabeth was named to the 40 Under 40 list from Long Island Business News.

While a student at Touro Law Center, Elizabeth served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Touro Law Review, Treasurer of the Public Interest Law Organization and Student Co-Director of the Legal Education Access Program – a program designed to promote diversity and assist incoming law students with developing study and exam skills. She served as a Research Assistant to Professor Marjorie A. Silver and assisted with the publication of Ms. Silver’s book titled Transforming Justice, Lawyers, and the Practice of Law (2017). She also served as a Research Assistant to Professor Dan Subotnik in connection with his study and publication of articles regarding race and gender theories.

Upon graduation, Elizabeth received the Dean Emeritus Howard A. Glickstein Award for Outstanding Leadership and Overall Academic Excellence; the Exemplary Contributions to the Growth of the Law Center Award; the Distinguished Writing Award for the Best Article Written by a Graduating Student; and the CALI Award for receiving the highest grade in Criminal Procedure.
