Elizabeth S. Sy
AssociateElizabeth S. Sy’s practice includes resolving conflicts through litigation in state and federal court and alternative dispute resolution. She has experience in a wide range of commercial matters, including shareholder and partnership disputes, business torts, real estate disputes, breach of contract, restrictive covenants, intellectual property, and trade secrets. She also has experience defending attorneys in professional liability matters and handling insurance coverage and environmental issues. Elizabeth is a certified mediator.
Elizabeth has been recognized as a New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2021, an honor awarded to 2.5% of lawyers in the region under 40. She was named to Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch for 2025, recognizing early-career attorneys demonstrating outstanding professional excellence in private practice. In 2024, she was selected as a Long Island Business News 40 Under 40 honoree and received the Honorable Judith Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship from the New York State Bar Association, which is awarded to up to five female commercial litigators each year.
A summa cum laude graduate from Touro Law Center, Elizabeth served as Editor-in-Chief of the Touro Law Review, leading a staff of over 50 students. She also served as Treasurer of the Public Interest Law Organization and Student Co-Director of the Legal Education Access Program, which supports incoming students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, in building essential academic skills. She worked as a Research Assistant to Professors Marjorie A. Silver and Dan Subotnik, contributing to publications concerning the collaborative resolution of conflicts, spirituality and the law, and race and gender theories.
Upon graduation, Elizabeth received numerous honors, including the Dean Emeritus Howard A. Glickstein Award for Outstanding Leadership and Overall Academic Excellence, the Exemplary Contributions to the Growth of the Law Center Award, the Distinguished Writing Award for the best article written by a graduating student, and the CALI Award in Criminal Procedure. In 2019, she was honored with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Touro Law Center in recognition of her service to the school and her role as a mentor and role model to students.
Outside the courtroom, Elizabeth is deeply committed to service. She serves as the First Vice President of the Board of Directors of Hope For Youth, a nonprofit dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of children. She also serves as Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee and is a member of its Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
