Diversity & Inclusion

Our people make the difference.

Rivkin Radler is committed to fostering diversity within an inclusive environment that respects the individual, promotes different perspectives, encourages distinctive ideas and drives dynamic results.

We employ individuals with varied backgrounds and life experiences who together create a firm with a rich and vibrant culture: one that enables us to attract and retain the best talent and allows us to bring a diversity of thinking to bear for the benefit of our clients. Our attorneys lead professional organizations, strengthen nonprofits that support the public good and pursue scholarly legal endeavors that advance our field.

Rivkin Radler recognizes that ensuring a strong culture of diversity and inclusion demands more than policy statements and written goals. It requires continuous effort, focus and action. The firm is actively expanding its initiatives internally through our policies, procedure and best practices, and externally, through the clients and community organizations with whom we partner. Currently, two committees focus on the issues of diversity and inclusion.

Diversity, equity and inclusion strategies are an integral part of our hiring and recruiting practices. Job postings are shared with regional affinity groups and are also shared with the firm’s attorneys who are members of affinity groups — such as the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York, Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, the Filipino American Lawyers Association and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association — to distribute within their networks. The firm has hosted summer interns from the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, and the Long Island Legal Pipeline Program. Additionally, the firm has hosted interns through Albany Bar Association’s Diversity Internship program. The firm also participates in the annual LGBT Network’s Job Fair.

Our Women’s Initiative Committee supports the professional success of women in the legal profession by enhancing professional opportunities inside and outside of the firm, encouraging active leadership and collaboration within the community and sustaining a positive and supportive environment. The Committee dedicates its work to recognizing the accomplishments of women; forging a professional path for women; providing experiential learning opportunities; and creating networking and other professional opportunities.

Our Diversity, Development & Inclusion (DDI) Committee is focused on increasing the diversity within the firm through hiring initiatives aimed at identifying diverse talent. The DDI Committee also seeks to create an inclusive environment that welcomes attorneys and staff from all walks of life. The Committee meets regularly to discuss and develop programming to increase awareness of and sensitivity to issues our diverse employees experience, issues that could impact their job satisfaction and performance.

In 2024, the Leopold Solutions Law Firm Index noted Rivkin Radler’s advancement of women to partnership: “Rivkin Radler had the most significant increase in women partners year-over-year, jumping from 23.9% to 30.2%.”  We are proud to be the recipients of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association’s award for Outstanding Community Service and Promoting Diversity on Long Island and Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association’s President’s Award for Diversity.
