Merril Biscone Recipient of “Women of Distinction” Award

UNIONDALE, NY ? Merril Schapiro Biscone, Of Counsel to Rivkin Radler, has been selected as a recipient of the 17th Assembly District’s “Women of Distinction” Award for 2012.  This award pays tribute to the extraordinary efforts made by women who make their community a safer, better place to live.

As a member of the firm’s Insurance Coverage & Litigation and Litigation & Appeals Practice Groups, Ms. Biscone handles all aspects of appellate litigation in addition to general civil litigation and has successfully argued complex appeals in the United States Court of Appeals and the various appellate courts of the State of New York.

Ms. Biscone is Acting Village Court Justice for the Incorporated Village of Garden City having been appointed to this position by the Mayor of the Village. Ms. Biscone is the first woman in the 131 year history of the Village to serve in this capacity. Her duties include presiding over disputes involving the interpretation of the Village Code, Vehicle and Traffic Law violations, and other significant issues affecting the lives of the Village residents and the business community.

Ms. Biscone will receive her award on Saturday, August 11 in Albertson, N.Y.
