Fader Quoted on OCR’s RFI regarding Changes to HIPAA

Eric Fader weighed in on an article in Healthcare Risk Management discussing the HHS Office for Civil Rights’ request for information (RFI). The RFI seeks comment on how the HIPAA Privacy Rule might be changed to allow for better coordination of care among providers.

Eric noted that the Treatment, Payment, and Healthcare Operations exception to the Privacy Rule continues to confound some healthcare providers, and as a result, they opt not to cooperate with a request for medical records.
