Rutkin to Present at American Bar Association Annual Meeting

Alan Rutkin will be a panelist at the 24th Annual Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee Mid-Year Program, sponsored by the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. The program entitled, “The Heat Is On: Hot Topics in the World of Insurance,” will take place on February 18-20 in Phoenix, Arizona.

This year’s program, co-sponsored by the Excess, Surplus Lines and Reinsurance, and Self-Insurers and Risk Managers Committees, promises a vast array of panels on hot topics in insurance coverage featuring a diverse group of insurance professionals, from coverage counsel to insurers to judges and in-house risk managers and insurance specialists. As always, the program will also feature a number of toolbox lunch sessions, giving attendees an opportunity to engage in lively discussions on a number of emerging topics in small group discussions led by a variety of speakers from all areas of the insurance coverage industry.

Alan will be participating on a panel entitled, “Cyber Liability Insurance Coverage Issues From The Frontline.” This program will review cyber liability from four levels: (1) managing data breach inci-dents; (2) understanding enforcement and forensic concerns; (3) reviewing the available cyber insurance products; and (4) analyzing the insurance coverage issues arising from cyber liability, both as a direct result of the breach under cyber insurance policies, and for secondary liability under fiduciaryand D&O policies. The panel will include: a lawyer who was in-house counsel at a company that experienced a well-known cyber breach; a consultant who handles computer forensics and cybercrime; a broker offering cyber coverage products; and both a policyholder-lawyer and an insurer-lawyer. The audience will learn about the actual circumstances of cyber claims, as well as the insurance cover-age options and issues.
