George Choriatis


George Choriatis is a Partner in the firm's Health Services and Corporate & Commercial Practice Groups, resident in the Uniondale office. Mr. Choriatis practices in the areas of health and corporate law, with a focus on health care business transactions. His experience includes representing the following healthcare organizations: large physician group practices; hospitals and health systems; community health centers, ambulatory surgery centers, kidney dialysis facilities, and other outpatient care centers; nursing facilities; and healthcare industry consultants and service providers. Mr. Choriatis has participated as counsel in numerous health care and corporate matters, including the following: hospital-physician relationships, including the formation of integrated delivery systems and the development of performance-based compensation arrangements; the formation of physician practices and the acquisition of one physician practice by another; the qualification of community health centers as “federally qualified health centers”; the formation of ancillary services joint ventures; the sale and purchase of skilled nursing facilities; general corporate and commercial matters; and health care regulatory matters.

In addition, Mr. Choriatis is a frequent speaker on the ongoing health care payment reform initiatives that seek to change the way Medicare and other payors reimburse providers in order to encourage diverse providers to collaborate to reduce costs and improve quality. In connection with the foregoing, Mr. Choriatis has a keen interest in the various demonstration programs and pilot projects that are taking place throughout the United States which test different payment structures and methodologies that aim to reduce costs and improve quality, including performance-based payment programs, medical home programs, episode payment arrangements, bundled payments, shared-savings initiatives, and global payment arrangements.
