Krinick quoted in LIBN

February 8, 2017

Evan Krinick was featured in a Jan. 20, 2017 article in Long Island Business News entitled, “Making Partner in 2017.” He detailed the qualities an associate needs to achieve partner at Rivkin Radler.

Comparing to the year when I first elevated to partner — 1992 — we now look for more evidence of a person’s potential to attract and retain clients. In the past, it may have been enough to be a hard-working, excellent attorney who had the potential to be a leader. Now, in addition, we want to see that each attorney has both the ability and desire to attract, retain and grow client relationships.

Generally, we look to promote associates whom we think will be future leaders, regardless of practice area. It so happens that our insurance fraud practice has been growing exponentially and has added a number of high-quality associates in recent years, so that there were a plethora of partnership-quality candidates.

There are many reasons why an individual may not be promoted in a particular year but will be promoted in a subsequent year. It has happened many times here.

Every attorney has the opportunity to demonstrate that they have the qualities necessary for promotion to partner. Each attorney controls their own destiny. Success is available to all, if you are willing to make the commitment.
