Silvana Merlino is Counsel in Rivkin Radler’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. She has broad experience in various areas of intellectual property practice with over 25 years of experience.

Silvana has represented numerous clients in patent and trademark prosecution matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She has advised clients in other areas of intellectual property practice, including complex and high-technology multi-party licensing programs, patent litigation, transactional and IP due diligence, patent counseling, opinion work, licensing, and copyright matters.

Her fields of technology include medical devices, electrophysiology, software, circuits, electronic program guides, fiber optics, signal processing, wireless technology, semiconductors including laser diodes and LEDs, and various high-compression technologies including DVD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, and AVC. She assisted with strategizing a patent portfolio for a start-up medical device company subsequently acquired by the electrophysiology division of a major pharmaceutical corporation. She has experience with IP due diligence and advising clients on various intellectual property transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions involving Fortune 500 companies.

Silvana is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
