David M. Grill dedicates his practice to representing the interests of major real estate owners, developers, and contractors in complex commercial, construction, surety, lien law and property litigation. Over the course of more than 20 years in practice, David has successfully litigated and arbitrated hundreds of real property and construction disputes, and his efforts have delivered substantial value to his clients.

With particular expertise in construction defect and contract cases, David represents clients throughout the construction chain – from owners and developers to general contractors, and from trade contractors to suppliers. He understands the intricate body of specialized law that governs the New York real estate and construction industry, and leverages this knowledge to obtain the best possible results.

David also has extensive transactional experience in negotiating and drafting all manner of construction and design contracts, ranging from large scale developments to residential projects.

In addition to his construction practice, David also counsels building owners in all aspects of the landlord-tenant relationship, both residential and commercial, and represents them in related litigation. His clients include major commercial and residential real estate corporations, asset and portfolio managers, landlords, commercial tenants, developers, and management companies.

In 2018, David was selected to be a Fellow of the Construction Lawyer Society of America, an invitation-only honorary society with New York membership limited to 85 attorneys.

David has been named to Best Lawyers in America® for Construction Law from 2020 to 2025.

He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the field of construction litigation twelve times between 2006 and 2024.
