With a Surrogate’s Court career spanning three decades, Al brings a unique perspective to his practice. He is attentive to his clients’ needs and goals, and he encourages open communication with them.
Albert W. Petraglia concentrates his practice on Surrogate’s Court Litigation, trusts and estates administration, and complex estate planning and related tax matters.
Of Counsel to Rivkin Radler’s Trusts & Estates Practice Group, Albert is routinely appointed by the court to act as a guardian, guardian ad litem, court examiner or referee. He also represents clients in MHL ART 81 and SCPA 17-A proceedings.
For more than 17 years, Albert served as chief clerk-referee at the Nassau County Surrogate’s Court where he was responsible for the court’s daily operation. There, he oversaw the installation of an advanced computer system and initiated a program to digitize Surrogate’s Court’s files as a means to preserve file integrity and provide easy access to data.
He is a speaker from time to time for the New York State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Program.
While at Pratt Institute, Albert was on the Dean’s List and was a graduate of the Cooperative Education Program, Exchange Student through United Nations’ I.A.E.S.T.E. Sponsorship

Albert continues to be active in the Surrogate’s Courts Chief Clerk’s Association and the Surrogate’s Law Association. He has been a guest lecturer for both associations. Albert is a past president and current member of the Columbian Lawyers’ Association.
He has been actively involved in the American Kidney Fund for the past seven years, most recently serving on the nonprofit organization’s New York Golf Classic Committee.
Albert has lectured for the New York State Bar Association, Nassau Bar Association, Columbian Lawyers’ Association, Nassau County and First Department, and New York County Lawyers’ Association.
He is a member of the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizens and served as a Moot Court Judge for Brooklyn Law School.
Albert was the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection for the help he extended his client in securing an award of reimbursement.
