The Employment Law Reporter

July 9, 2020 | Employment & Labor

Welcome to the Summer 2020 issue of The Employment Law Reporter. This inaugural issue of this quarterly newsletter first reviews the landmark U.S. Supreme Court opinion in which the Court ruled that an employer that fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This issue then covers a wide range of recent decisions by federal and state courts in New York involving claims of employment discrimination and disputes over covenants not to compete.

The breadth of topics covered in this newsletter ranges from court decisions resolving claims based on race, national origin, and sex in violation of Title VII to claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1981, the New York State Human Rights Law, and the New York City Human Rights Law. Court decisions discussed in this issue explore lawsuits alleging disability discrimination to non-compete agreements signed by sellers of a business.

And, there’s more.

Of course, we welcome your feedback.

We hope that you and yours are well, and that you all stay safe,

Kenneth A. Novikoff
