Lewis Remarks on Rude Emails in Newsday

March 11, 2019 | Employment & Labor

On March 10, 2019, Shari Lewis was quoted in the Newsday article, “Curbing Rudeness in Workplace Communications.” The article discusses the far-reaching effects of workplace incivility, which often manifests in emails.

Shari noted that, above all, firms should “have a policy that encourages civility,” and that policy should spell out acceptable conduct and social media/electronic use so employees know how to interact with other individuals — be they colleagues or customers — with respect. She added that a prohibition on bullying is also important.
