The segment examines Barney Frank’s impact as one of the first openly gay members of Congress, considering his legacy through both LGBTQ+ and compliance perspectives. Nancy reflects on his courage during a very difficult era for the gay community.
“I wouldn’t be having this conversation with you in the ’80s,” Nancy said. Speaking about the challenges young people still face when coming out, Nancy says, “That just makes it even more important when people like a Barney Frank, a person out there in the press, in our government, comes out.”
