Conneely Comments on NY HERO Act in NewsdayJune 30, 2021 |
Brian Conneely was interviewed by Newsday regarding new workplace health and safety requirements set forth in the NY HERO Act, which was created in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NY HERO Act signed in May by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo will require employers to meet standards published by the NYS Department of Labor (DOL.)
Conneely says the DOL was set to release the standards in June but was delayed until July 5 to devise industry standards and to amend the law to add provisions including language meant to limit the potential for frivolous lawsuits. Employers will then have until 30 days to meet or exceed those standards.
