BOSS Program: Protect Yourself against Your Customers’ Financial Problems

October 15, 2019 | Bankruptcy

Michael Mulè will host the 10th Business Owners Seminar Series (BOSS) program on November 21 from 8:30 to 10 am at Rivkin Radler.

Stuart I. Gordon and Matthew V. Spero, partners in the firm’s Bankruptcy Practice Group, will discuss how to avoid getting hurt by customers’ financial woes. They will talk about how to stay current on receivables and how to structure agreements and credit terms so that if a customer declares bankruptcy, you will have a better chance of getting and keeping what is paid to you within 90 days of a bankruptcy filing.

Finally, Stu and Matt will address some recent changes to the bankruptcy laws that will take effect in early 2020, changes that will make it much easier for small businesses to file for bankruptcy and could lead to a spate of bankruptcy filings next year. Attendees will learn how to protect themselves by requiring personal guarantees and other forms of security to maximize recovery.
