Wendy Hoey Sheinberg is partner in the firm’s Elder Law and Trusts & Estates Practice Groups, concentrating in the areas of guardianship, elder law, special needs planning, trust and estate planning, and trust and estate administration. She has presented numerous seminars on elder law, estate planning, senior housing, and probate and estate administration and has lectured for the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and many notable local civic and religious groups.
A prolific writer, Wendy has published articles in the New York State Bar Association Law Journal, the University of South Dakota Law Review, the NAELA Quarterly, Senior News, and the Nassau Lawyers. Wendy has been interviewed and quoted in notable publications and news services such as U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, Newsday, and Dow Jones Newswire.

Wendy is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), a prestigious recognition conferred by the National Elder Law Foundation. She is one of only about 500 CELAs nationwide. Wendy is a Fellow of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).
She currently serves as chair of the Trust and Estate Section of the New York County Lawyers’ Association and as co-chair of the organization’s Elder Law Committee.
Wendy is a member of the New York State Bar Association Elder Law Section.
Wendy is the vice president of the Long Beach Lawyers Association, where she is also a member of the Board of Directors. Wendy is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates section and serves as a vice chair of its Elderly and Disabled Committee.
Wendy has been certified by the National Elder Law Foundation as a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA). She was selected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Selection as a Fellow is the highest honor bestowed by the Academy, signifying that an attorney’s peers recognize the lawyer as a model for others, and as an exceptional lawyer and leader. It also acknowledges the highest degree of commitment to serving older persons and people with special needs. Wendy is also a member and former board member of NAELA.
From 2013 to 2027, Wendy has been named to Best Lawyers in America® for Elder Law and Trusts and Estates, and in 2021, she was named a Lawyer of the Year. This recognition is awarded to individual lawyers with the highest overall peer feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region. In 2022, Martindale Hubbell designated her a Top Rated Woman Leader in Law. Wendy was named one of Long Island’s Top 50 Women in Business in 2020 by Long Island Business News. Martindale-Hubbell recognizes Wendy as an AV® rated attorney. An AV certification is a significant accomplishment – a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. Wendy has been repeatedly named to the New York Metro Super Lawyers list in the area of elder law.
