Stephanie’s interest in litigation began early and developed through years of mock trial competitions, where she developed a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy and persuasive argument. She continued to hone those skills in law school through extensive advocacy experience, including drafting motions, preparing for depositions, and developing litigation strategies.

Stephanie Besen is a law clerk in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group.
Stephanie previously interned in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of New York under Judge Azrack. She also externed at the Department of Justice in the Eastern District of New York.
Stephanie earned her B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy, Politics and Law from Binghamton University, graduating magna cum laude, and her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, graduating cum laude.
At St. John’s, she served as a staff member on the Law Review and a competing member on the Polestino Trial Advocacy Institute. As a member of the team, she competed in three trial advocacy competitions, earning Best Overall Advocate and Semi-Finalist in the St. John’s Brian Peterson Memorial First-Year Trial Competition; Best Opening Statement and Semi-Finalist in Fordham Law School’s Judge Joseph Kelly Jr.’s Trial Competition; and Semi-Finalist in the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association Trial Competition Regionals. After her second year, Stephanie was a summer associate at Rivkin Radler.
Throughout her second and third year of law school, she received the Dean’s Award for Excellence for earning the highest grade in Trial Advocacy, Pre-Trial Advocacy, and Employment Discrimination. She also received the Pro Bono Service Award.
Prior to law school, Stephanie served as an immigration paralegal.
In her free time, Stephanie loves to attend workout classes, spend time with friends and family, and go on hikes.
