For the past several decades, Norton has served the health care industry as both a corporate/M & A lawyer and in senior level C-suite positions, most recently as the CEO of a large dental network. Norton’s extensive experience in the field provides unique insight and judgment to help clients understand how health care businesses can most effectively grow and succeed.
Norton L. Travis is of counsel to our Health Services Practice Group, where he focuses on mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures for for-profit and not-for-profit health care providers.
Norton’s career has spanned a broad array of experience including high-level executive positions for major national and regional health care companies.
Starting his career as a corporate lawyer, Norton co-founded a firm that grew to become the largest dedicated health care law practice in the metropolitan New York area. Serving as chairman of the Corporate Department of the firm, Norton assisted clients in structuring hundreds of complex health care transactions.
Following this 25-plus year law firm role, Norton was recruited to serve as the executive vice president and general counsel of the nation’s largest cancer care provider, where he oversaw the legal departmental as well as numerous mergers and acquisitions. During his tenure, the company grew to encompass more than 100 locations including an expansion into Latin America.
Norton also served as the project coordinator and arranged the financing for the New York Proton Center, a $350 million specialty cancer care partnership composed of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Montefiore Health System, and Mount Sinai Health System, three of the largest health care systems in the metropolitan New York area.
Most recently, Norton served as the founding CEO of ProHEALTH Dental, a network of dental offices in the metropolitan New York area that are affiliated with large, well-established medical practices and health care systems to coordinate medical and dental services. Norton stepped down from his CEO position earlier this year, remaining as a strategic advisor to the board.
Norton is an avid skier, biker and golfer and remains actively involved in the health care legal and business communities.
