Partner

Michael is a Partner in Rivkin Radler’s Commercial Litigation, Insurance Coverage, and Insurance Fraud Practice Groups. His practice includes representing a wide-array of clients, ranging from mid-size businesses to large Fortune 500 companies, in complex, high-stakes commercial litigations, such as contractual, business torts and shareholder and partnership disputes.  He has extensive experience in civil litigation and corporate counseling, including trial and appellate work involving complex commercial matters, real property disputes, insurance law disputes, and labor and employment issues, and he has served as trial counsel in both federal and state courts.

As a Partner in the Firm’s Commercial Litigation and Insurance Fraud Practice Groups, Michael’s practice focuses on insurance fraud investigations and litigations involving healthcare claims.  He also represents insurers in litigation to recover no-fault benefits. He has helped insurers achieve multimillion-dollar judgments and settlements in fraud cases and has helped develop case law that is used to combat insurance fraud.  Additionally, Michael has helped secure a major victory for New York no-fault automobile insurers by obtaining dismissal of an action challenging an insurer’s right to use medical peer reviews to deny no-fault claims for MRI studies.

Michael’s cases often involve the eligibility of fraudulently incorporated medical providers and fraudulent billing by medical providers for unnecessary treatment. Michael has a wealth of experience in the investigation and defense of automobile and medical fraud claims and regularly counsels insurers during the investigative stage of a claim. Additionally, Michael prosecutes and defends complex civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, pharmacists, medical clinics, attorneys, and others involved in complex, large scale insurance fraud schemes. Also, he represents clients in federal and state litigation, arbitration, mediation, and administrative proceedings in matters involving complex commercial disputes.

A member of Rivkin Radler’s pro bono program, Michael represents indigent tenants in landlord-tenant disputes in Nassau County and throughout New York City. He is also active in several local charities, including the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, Long Island’s preeminent not-for-profit children’s mental health agency. As Co-Chair of the Center’s 2013-2021 charity golf & tennis outings, Michael’s efforts have helped raise more than 1 million dollars.
