Michael’s commitment goes beyond closing the deal. With a background in economics, Michael brings a deep understanding of numbers that extend well beyond the transaction at hand. He takes a practical, results-driven approach when working with clients, who often describe him as diligent, detail-oriented, and highly trustworthy. Whether managing business interests or personal financial matters, clients rely on Michael for his insight and precision.
Michael J. Heller is a member of the firm’s Banking, Corporate and Real Estate Practice Groups, and has represented clients in these arenas for more than 30 years.
He works extensively with bank clients on complex commercial loans, including Industrial Development Agency and Small Business Administration matters, and with private clients in real estate development and corporate transactions.
Michael has handled loan restructuring and workouts, foreclosures and deeds in lieu. He has been involved in sophisticated title insurance issues and litigation. He has lectured extensively to business groups on emerging banking, real estate and corporate issues.
For his corporate clients, Michael advises on formations and structures, buy-sell and corporate agreements, and partnership disputes, among other matters.

Serving on several boards, he is currently the President of the Board of the Long Island Chapter of The Risk Management Association.
Active in his community, Michael most recently served as President of the Birchwood Civic Association. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of Fresh Meadow Country Club.
Michael supports several charities including: American Heart Association, UJA Federation, Hadassah, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Cycle for Survival, Richard J. O’Brien Foundation, Medical Mission International and Fresh Meadow Country Club’s Babes against Cancer.
The Long Island Press in 2023 named Michael a Real Estate Power Player. Long Island Business News recognized Michael with the Leadership in Law Partner Award in 2020.
