Counsel
Michael’s clients’ needs are his top priority. Using a creative, detail-oriented approach to resolving problems, which stems from his interest in strategy games, numismatics, and scorekeeping at sporting events, he provides creative options for addressing his clients’ issues.
Michael F. Panayotou is counsel in Rivkin Radler’s insurance coverage group, where he provides advice to insurers for various claims, including contractual and common law indemnity, construction defect, product liability, complex tort, premises liability and other coverage issues.
Mike regularly handles all phases of litigation including discovery, dispositive motion practice, mediation and appeals.
Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Mike worked for a boutique law firm and routinely handled insurance coverage issues for various insurers admitted in New York as well as non-admitted carriers. He was regularly called upon by attorneys who are not admitted to practice law in New York for insight on New York practice in federal and state courts, and to act as local counsel.
Mike also has substantial defense experience, having defended nursing homes and professionals sued for various forms of malpractice. Earlier, Mike also was part of a firm that obtained the largest private antitrust settlement in United States history. There, he was also on a team that secured regulatory approval for a major merger between two telecommunications giants.
Mike majored in Classics (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa), with a focus on Ancient Greek language and history, and minored in philosophy.
