With 40 years of legal experience, John guides clients through the home-buying process, often the biggest financial transaction of their lifetime. By treating each client as though they were his only client, they receive a level of service unavailable from other firms.
John Panagopoulos represents institutional, government, and private lenders in real estate transactions in the placement of new secured loans, commercial and residential mortgage foreclosure actions, distressed loan workouts, and associated litigation.
John serves as counsel in Rivkin Radler’s Real Estate Practice Group. He frequently represents lenders, developers, purchasers, and sellers in every aspect of real estate practice. He has counseled clients in complicated transactions including the acquisition and sale of residential and commercial properties, residential and commercial development projects, and in the context of in rem financing and proceedings.

Recently, John represented a seller in a record-breaking $67 million sales transaction on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, involving a 1031 tax free exchange, J51 real estate tax abatements, rent regulation, and other complex real estate issues.
He also represented the purchaser in its acquisition of a $100 million luxury high-rise apartment building in the Gramercy/Kips Bay section of Manhattan.
