Joel is an experienced and well-respected attorney who is skilled at creative problem-solving and at finding “win-win” solutions that help clients avoid litigation. He is an effective communicator and finds that resolving disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner is the most rewarding aspect of his career.
Joel M. Greenberg has decades of experience advising health care clients regarding the business and legal issues that arise in their professional practices and how to properly adhere to the complicated maze of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations that govern their industry.
Joel provides legal services with regard to the formation of new practice entities; their ongoing business operations; their compliance with federal and state fraud, abuse, self-referral, and professional misconduct rules; practice mergers, acquisitions, and dissolutions; malpractice insurance; and most other business and legal issues that licensed health care professionals are likely to encounter in their private practices.
Joel has served as a co-editor in chief of the past four editions of The Legal Manual for New York Physicians, a joint publication of the New York State Bar Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York. He also served as the Managing Editor of the New York Health Law Update from 1998 through 2003.
Joel is an adjunct professor of health law at the State University of New York’s College at Old Westbury.

Joel was chairman of the Hospital and Health Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association from 2000 through 2002. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross on Long Island for many years and currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David in Rockville Centre. He is also involved with the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County and other local and national charities.
Joel has been recognized by New York Metro Super Lawyers for the past 14 years and has long held an AV Preeminent certification from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting the assessment of his peers that he has reached the highest levels of professional excellence, skill, and integrity. He is also credentialed by the New York State Dental Association to provide legal services to its members in a host of different areas.
Joel was recognized by the New York Law Journal and New York Magazine as a New York Top Rated Lawyer in 2019. In that same year, he was given the Long Island Business News’ Leadership in Law Award and the Herald Community Newspapers’ Top Lawyers of Long Island Award.
