After hanging up his ice hockey skates, Jim brought the joy of competition and teamwork to his litigation practice. Like the sport, obtaining a favorable outcome—particularly when it is unexpected—is what he finds most rewarding about his work.
James C. Suozzo is counsel in Rivkin Radler’s General Liability Practice Group. He defends large companies and small businesses in premises liability, product liability, and other matters in state and federal courts.
Jim is a civil litigator with 25 years’ experience defending self-insured medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers. His product liability work also includes defending manufacturers of industrial and consumer products on behalf of insurance companies. Jim has also litigated on behalf of medical practices, surgery centers and physicians.
Before joining Rivkin Radler, Jim defended a global manufacturer of medical devices whose products included breast implants, mesh and obesity products, regularly appearing in state and federal courts throughout the country, utilizing and directing local counsel in California, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and many other states.
The cases Jim has handled in his career have involved various injuries and diseases including traumatic brain injuries, burns, fractures, crush injuries, cancer, and death.
Jim graduated from Rutgers College and the University of Georgia School of Law.

Jim has been a longstanding member of the Bergen County Bar Association and chaired its Products Liability Committee from 2007 to 2021. He has lectured on various legal topics including negotiation, product liability and understanding medical records for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE), the Bergen County Bar Association, and Bergen Community College.
Jim has been acknowledged in (201) Magazine as one of Bergen County’s top attorneys for products liability.
