Garin is a partner in Rivkin Radler’s Compliance, Investigations & White Collar and Insurance Fraud Practice Groups.
Garin prosecutes complex civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act on behalf of the nation’s largest insurers, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, medical suppliers, and others involved in complex, large-scale insurance fraud schemes.
In addition to his extensive federal litigation experience, Garin counsels his clients on claims-handling practices, fraud prevention, and investigation strategies.
Garin is currently an associate village court justice for the Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst. His duties include presiding over disputes involving the interpretation of the village code, vehicle and traffic law violations, and other issues affecting the lives of residents and the business community.
Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Garin served as an assistant district attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he acted as lead counsel in numerous jury trials. As a trial attorney in the District Court Bureau, Garin successfully prosecuted misdemeanor offenses, including sex crimes, gang cases, assault, DWI, drug possession, and other criminal offenses. He was responsible for all aspects of these criminal cases, including investigations, motion practice, plea negotiations, and trials.
While at Wake Forest University School of Law, Garin served as an article editor for the Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law.
