Colin’s studies in political science and public administration helped him understand how individual cases fit into broader policy goals, allowing him to better advocate for his clients. He was drawn to the practice of law because he excels at working under pressure and guiding people through difficult situations. Colin thrives on helping people and taking on the responsibility required of his profession.
Colin Baker is an associate in Rivkin Radler’s Commercial Litigation and General Liability Practice Groups.
Colin’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, where he assists clients with motion practice, legal research, discovery, and trial preparation.
Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Colin gained legal experience in the New York State Office of the Attorney General, where he worked in both the Organized Crime Task Force and the Claims Bureau. He also served as a judicial intern to U.S. Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel of the Northern District of New York. He also gained extensive experience in commercial litigation matters while working as a law clerk with a Capital Region law firm.
In law school, Colin was actively involved in the Albany Law School Moot Court Board, where he served as director of competitions. He also held leadership positions as senior student ambassador for the admissions office, senator in the student bar association, and treasurer of the golf club.
Colin is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association. He earned his J.D. from Albany Law School, graduating in May 2025, and holds both a Master of Public Administration, summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Binghamton University.
Outside of his legal practice, Colin enjoys golf, skiing, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
