Amy approaches each case as if her own company was the insurance fraud victim. With more than 20 years of experience, she is intimately familiar with how fraud schemes evolve. She readily identifies new schemes at their inception, which allows her to better protect her clients.
Amy S. Wiedmann focuses her practice in investigating and litigating insurance fraud involving health care and property claims in no-fault, bodily injury, uninsured motorist, and subrogation matters. As a member of the firm’s Insurance Fraud Practice Group, Amy regularly represents national and regional insurers in fighting fraud in the health care and automobile industries in actions to recover payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters, and others as part of complex, large-scale insurance fraud and kickback schemes in federal and state litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
In addition, Amy counsels automobile and property insurers on claims-handling practices and investigation techniques and works closely with her clients to develop fraud prevention, detection, and recovery plans. Amy has created no-fault manuals and has administered no-fault training workshops for her clients and has defended insurers before the New York Department of Financial Services against complaints challenging her clients’ claims-handling practices.
Amy’s has also defended clients against numerous employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims in federal court and before the EEOC and has counseled special districts with regard to numerous legal issues.
A member of the Board of the Rivkin Radler’s Women’s Initiative, Amy serves on its Business and Professional Development Committee, Philanthropy Committee, and Firm Culture Committee. She is also involved in the firm’s mentoring initiative, for which she has received accolades.
During law school, Amy served as a legal intern in the Main Street Legal Services, Inc.’s Battered Women’s Rights Clinic, Workfare Advocacy Project and Courtroom Advocacy Project. She also interned for New York State Family Court Judge Porzio.
