Merrick Woman Claims $150M Powerball Jackpot

Merrick, NY — On October 3, a Merrick woman came forward to claim the $150 million Powerball jackpot. She purchased the winning ticket on August 17 at Merrick Gas & Repair on Merrick Avenue in Merrick, NY.

The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, bought the ticket after purchasing $16 worth of gas and paying with a $20 bill. She used the $4 she received in change to purchase two Powerball tickets for the following day’s drawing.

Working with attorney Jason Kurland, the winner maintained her anonymity by claiming the prize through the Healthy Rainbow, LLC. Her payment, which she elected to receive as a lump sum, totaled $70,968,165 after required withholdings.

“As with the other jackpot winners I have represented, this Powerball winner was overwhelmed with emotion when she learned her ticket matched all six numbers,” Jason said. “One of her first concerns was protecting her privacy, which is why she contacted me. It’s important for all big-money winners to stay quiet and contact a lottery attorney so that they don’t get bombarded by requests from family members, charities and long-forgotten friends.”

The winner said she plans to use her new-found wealth to invest for the future and travel. She plans to go on a cruise to Greece as her first trip.

Jason Kurland will be available to address questions from the press.
