Michael E. Buckley represents many of America’s leading insurance carriers in a wide variety of insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes.
Michael’s experience in coverage matters ranges from defending declaratory judgment actions in which Fortune 500 companies have sought coverage for asbestos, silica, and environmental liabilities to providing coverage analysis and recommendations to carriers facing potential environmental, toxic tort, contractual liability, personal injury liability, and homeowners exposure.
The author of many published articles on coverage issues, Michael also has served as assigned defense counsel on behalf of insureds in various environmental and lead paint exposure claims in New York.
Michael is a past president of the Notre Dame Club of Long Island and has received the Notre Dame Award for service to the organization. Michael also served as a member of the Volunteer Lawyers Initiative for Catholic Charities, which provides critical legal services on a pro bono basis to individuals and families in their respective parishes who are unable to afford legal fees.
In addition, Michael is active in Rivkin Radler’s in-house pro bono program, which provides legal assistance to disadvantaged tenants in housing disputes, and in the firm’s mentoring program, where he provides support and guidance for local elementary schoolchildren.
The Insurance Coverage Practice Group since 2016 has been included in the Chambers USA directory in the Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer category. In addition, the group is included in the 2016 Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys.
