Maria Harghel is an Associate in Rivkin Radler’s Insurance Fraud Practice Group. She focuses her practice on insurance defense and no-fault insurance fraud matters.

Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Maria worked at a midsize firm in Nassau County where she handled various aspects of medical malpractice litigation including discovery and motion practice, as well as trial prep for the defense of high- exposure cases. She also held meetings with expert witnesses as part of investigating alleged medical malpractice claims and advised clients regarding litigation strategy.

Maria received her J.D. from Hofstra University. While in law school, she participated in the Hofstra/Northwell Medical Legal Practicum, a pro-bono clinic dedicated to providing aid to Northwell patients who have health-harming legal needs. She was also a student extern at Northwell’s Office of Legal Affairs, where she assisted in creating and amending hospital policies once the COVID-19 state of emergency ended in New York in order to ensure that hospital policies were compliant with changes in the law.
