Justin M. Piccione
PartnerJustin M. Piccione is an experienced trial attorney and litigator, with a background in both civil and criminal law. A partner in Rivkin Radler’s Personal, Family, and Business Planning Practice Group, Justin represents clients in a wide variety of litigated trust and estate matters, including will and trust contests, contested accounting proceedings, discovery and turnover proceedings, disputes regarding the obligations of fiduciaries, contested guardianships, and commercial litigation related to estates. Justin’s practice also includes fiduciary counseling services, estate planning, and trust and estate administration.
Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Justin was Senior Trial Attorney with Allstate Insurance Company in its New York Staff Counsel Office, where he represented Allstate policyholders in complex personal injury litigation. During his five years with Allstate, Justin conducted over 40 personal injury jury trials along with dozens of bench trials for property damage claims and no-fault matters.
In addition to his extensive civil litigation experience, Justin also has a significant amount of criminal law experience. Justin began his legal career as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. As a member of the largest U.S. Attorney’s Office in the nation, Justin investigated and prosecuted a wide variety of challenging cases, including cases involving narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses. During his time as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, Justin tried over 20 criminal cases, including seven jury trials. In addition to conducting trials, he successfully handled dozens of pretrial motions and negotiated numerous plea bargains.
Justin first developed his skills as a trial attorney while he was still in law school at Case Western Reserve University. During his second summer of law school, Justin worked as an intern in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he was certified to handle his own cases in both the Philadelphia Municipal Court and the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas. As a certified legal intern, he conducted trials for a variety of misdemeanor offenses and also handled preliminary hearings for felony cases.
Justin currently serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. He also currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Surrogate’s Court Committee of the New York State Bar Association Trust and Estates Law Section.
In his free time, Justin enjoys going to the opera, listening to the music of Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel, and cheering on his alma mater, the Wisconsin Badgers.
