David Santana is an Associate in Rivkin Radler’s Insurance Fraud Practice Group.

David helps insurers prosecute civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters and others involved in complex, large-scale insurance fraud schemes.

Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, David served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office for nearly five years. During his time there, he investigated and prosecuted cases involving assault, drug possession, drug sale, robbery and other offenses. During his time in the Vehicular Crimes Bureau, he handled all aspects of prosecution of misdemeanor and felony driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by drug cases. David also investigated and prosecuted cases involving vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and offenses involving the use of a motor vehicle to cause serious physical injury and death. This involved all aspects of criminal investigations, crime scene investigation and grand jury presentations. David also conducted more than three-dozen evidentiary pre-trial hearings and, as lead counsel, tried over a dozen jury trials to verdict.

As a member of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau, David participated in presenting the Nassau County District Attorney’s Choices and Consequences program, which involved speaking to and educating high school students about the dangers of drunk, drugged and reckless driving.

As a Special Professor of Law at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law, David teaches trial advocacy to students and prepares them to compete against other law schools in mock trial competitions throughout the region and country.

He also serves as an Attorney Advisor to Massapequa High School’s Mock Trial Team, teaching juniors and seniors trial advocacy techniques.

David was a member of the Hofstra Trial Advocacy Association, where he competed in two interscholastic trial competitions.
