David P. Leno advises clients on all aspects of real estate transactions.  A Partner in the Firm’s Real Estate, Zoning & Land Use Practice Group, David negotiates and prepares transactional and financing documents and conducts closings for commercial and residential properties.  He prepares and negotiates office, commercial, and retail leases, as well as submissions.  David regularly appears before town boards and planning agencies across Long Island for zoning matters including variances, special use permits, and subdivision applications.

In 2011, David was appointed as a member and elected as a Vice Chair of the New York State Board of Real Estate. David was recognized as a New York Metropolitan SuperLawyer in Land Use and Zoning from 2014 through 2019.  He was also selected as one of Long Island’s 40 Under 40 for the class of 2007 by Long Island Business News.

David has published several articles, including: Zoning Trends on Long Island: Examining the Brookhaven Zoning Amendment (New York Real Estate Journal, May 2003); New E-Signature Law: Impact on B2B, B2C & B2G (The National Law Journal, September 25, 2000); Electronic Signatures: Getting Off to a Troubled Start in Real Estate Transactions. (New York Law Journal, August 9, 2000). He also lectures on zoning and land use topics and has taught several CLE programs on zoning-related issues and Industrial Development Agency (IDA) financings.

Having assisted in the formation of the Chaminade Alumni Businessmen’s Association, David remains active with the Chaminade High School Alumni Association and the Chaminade Alumni Lawyer’s Association.

David is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the West Hempstead Republican Club. In addition, David has been named to the Executive Board of the Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is an Assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 240 in West Hempstead.
