Carissa Danesi is an Associate in Rivkin Radler’s Insurance Fraud Practice Group.

Carissa helps insurers prosecute civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters, and others involved in complex, large-scale insurance fraud schemes.

Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Carissa served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Bureau. During her time there, Carissa handled all aspects of prosecution of misdemeanors and felonies both violent and non-violent including criminal investigations, grand jury presentations, and evidentiary hearings, and she acted as lead counsel, trying numerous bench and jury trials to verdict.

While a Senior Assistant District Attorney, Carissa received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Award for Recognition of Excellence for her dedication and service to the mission of MADD.

A Special Professor of Law at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law, Carissa teaches trial advocacy to students and prepares them to compete against other law schools in mock trial competitions throughout the region and country.

Carissa is a graduate of Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law and was the managing editor for the Family Court Review. She served as the Competition Manager for the Hofstra Trial Advocacy Association where she competed in six interscholastic trial competitions.
