.health Domain Name Now Available for Trademark Holders

Dothealth LLC, the company that operates the official registry for the .health domain name, has announced the first phase of .health’s public launch. During this initial “Sunrise Phase” trademark owners that are registered with ICANN’s Trademark Clearinghouse will have the first opportunity to register for the new domain name. This phase is open now through July 7, 2017. Thereafter, the “Industry Phase” will begin, from July 20 to November 30, 2017, at which time qualified health care providers, organizations, brands, and other businesses and individuals that provide health products, services and information, will gain access to registration. The domain name will become generally available to the public on December 5, 2017.

In order to register for .health, applicants will need to meet certain requirements to ensure that .health websites maintain a level of credibility. As explained on Dothealth’s website, “.health is designed to eliminate confusion and uncertainty by providing an instantly recognizable address that makes it easier for users to find the reliable, relevant information they need for a healthier life.” Trademark holders that want to take advantage of this new opportunity during the Sunrise Phase may obtain a .health domain from any of the following domain name registrars:
