UNIONDALE, NY – May 2010 – William M. Savino, managing partner of Rivkin Radler, has been named to the Long Island Press’ 8th Annual Power List, comprising Long Island’s 50 Most Influential leaders.

According to the Press, “The most important ingredient in determining so-called ‘power’ is a person’s influence.”  “A person’s wealth, the office he or she holds, or a particular accomplishment may be the catalyst for Power List consideration, but it is the extent to which those elements are used to influence the candidate’s surroundings that is taken into the greatest consideration.”

The Power List stated, “Savino runs with the big dogs.  A master networker in his own right, the former Nassau County Bar Association president and Old Brookville village mayor has litigated before trial and appellate courts across the country and represented big name clients in high profile cases….”

Savino’s leadership includes the appointment by the Governor to the New York State Judicial Screening Committee to sit on the Nassau County Judicial Panel; membership on the Board of Directors of Fireman’s Fund Indemnity Corp., Chair of the Audit Committee; Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long Island’s United Way, member of the Boards of Directors of the Long Island Association and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he served as President in 2003-2004.  Savino is a member of the State of New York Tenth Judicial District’s Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission and the Unified Court System’s Statewide Commercial Division Discussion Group.  He has served as the Mayor of the Village of Old Brookville, New York from 1995-2005.  He is also a member of the New York State Unified Court System’s Statewide Commercial Division Discussion Group.  Savino has served as President of the Villanova University Alumni Association (2006-07), and continues to serve on its board. He has been listed among the 100 Most Influential Long Islanders by the Long Island Business News, and was previously named to the Long Island Press’ 2006 and 2007 Power Lists.  Savino was the 2004 recipient of the Fordham University School of Law Long Island Distinguished Alumni Award.

Mr. Savino’s practice concentrates on commercial and insurance coverage litigation and related counseling. He has litigated before trial and appellate courts throughout the United States.  He has served as counsel for insurers in the defense of class actions involving interest charges and numerous insurance coverage claims and suits ranging from intellectual property liabilities and business torts to national environmental, antitrust and fiduciary claims.
