Shari Claire Lewis to speak at DRI Conference

October 21, 2010 | Professional Liability | Appeals

On October 21, 2010, Shari Claire Lewis, a partner in the Litigation & Appeals and Professional Liability Practice Groups, will be speaking at the DRI 2010 Annual Meeting.  Ms. Lewis’s presentation is entitled, “Who Let the Data Out?”

Whether data is stolen from a client corporation or leaked from within a law firm itself, lawyers have an integral role on the necessary response team:  they must navigate the maze of state regulation, assist investigation of the breach’s source, and formulate a plan to ameliorate the harm that it caused.  Using real-life situations, this panel will discuss a data breach from the perspective of a company’s general counsel, address potential liability from the perspective of outside defense counsel, and summarize the management of lawyer’s professional liability and date breach risks from an insurance standpoint.  Defense lawyers will be particularly interested in the ethical and professional liability concerns that arise from allowing unauthorized access to confidential client information.

The conference will be held in San Diego, California from October 20-24.
