Shari Claire Lewis to co-present at the 2013 Annual CLM Conference

Shari Claire Lewis, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property, Product Liability & Toxic Tort and Professional Liability Practice Groups, will be a co-presenter at the 2013 Annual Claims and Litigation Management Alliance Annual Conference. Her presentation is entitled, “Ethics – Challenges of Legal Ethics In A Digital Era.”

Held each spring, the CLM Annual Conference features more than 80 collaborative educational sessions and keynote presentations designed by industry professionals to help attendees gain the knowledge they need to be on the forefront of the industry.

A digital world requires technological competence, especially in e-discovery and the duty to preserve and produce potential evidence. Model Rules, 1.1, 3.4 (a). Cooperation is necessary in identifying electronically stored information (ESI) and following the Sedona Principles. Model Rules, 1.3, 3.2, 3.4 (d). In a digital era, lawyers must protect the confidentiality of electronic information from disclosure. Model Rules, 1.6, 1.1. Lawyers and non-lawyers alike must receive supervision and training in the use of technology and the evolving law as to competence, cooperation and confidentiality. Model Rules, 5.1, 5.3, 1.6.

The Conference will be held in San Antonio from April 10-12. Registration opens on December 4, 2012.
