Kurland Talks Powerball Winners Revealing Identities

Jason Kurland was quoted in The Oregonian for some insight on what to do after winning the powerball. In Oregon winners are not allowed to remain anonymous and will be approached by many people who are interested in a piece of the winnings.

Kurland says, “the first thing you want to do, before you turn in the ticket, is hire a lawyer, an accountant and a financial planner.”

“As soon as the world finds out, your life will be irreversibly changed,” Kurland said, “and the internet is rife with stories of big winners who have squandered their payout only to find themselves destitute with a few years.”
