Todd Belous defends claims against attorneys, accountants, insurance agents, insurance brokers, and other professionals.
Todd has successfully defended attorneys in many state and federal actions involving claims of malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, fraud, and defamation, as well as assertions of ethical violations. Notably, Todd successfully defended attorneys in a nationally known and widely reported ‘tax shelter’ class action litigation in federal court.
Todd also has extensive experience in defending accountants on a wide variety of claims involving tax issues, estate litigation, opinion letters, and financial reviews. He successfully represented an accountant who was the chief financial officer of a corporation in a major litigation brought by large financial institutions alleging improper reporting to lenders.
In addition, Todd has experience in insurance coverage litigation involving professional liability insurance policies and in defending title insurance claims.
An active member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (“PLUS”) and Professional Liability Defense Federation (“PLDF”), Todd has earned the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Todd was named a Super Lawyer in the Metro New York Area in Professional Liability: Defense in 2016 and 2017.
While at Syracuse University Law School, Todd served as an executive editor of the law review and was appointed a member of the Justinian Honor Society.
