Joanne M. Engeldrum counsels and represents insurance companies on toxic torts and products liability, general liability, construction defects, employment practices liability, bad faith, and other emerging insurance coverage issues.

Joanne successfully has resolved declaratory judgment actions on behalf of Rivkin Radler’s insurer clients through motion practice and appeals on issues of late notice, additional insured coverage, trigger of coverage, New York Insurance Law §3420(d), and priority of coverage. She obtained summary judgment in Budget, a precedent-setting case involving late notice prejudice in New York.

Joanne also counsels and represents the firm’s insurance clients in complex, high exposure cases involving New York’s labor law, products liability, and construction defects.  She frequently employs alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation, to successfully mediate complex coverage disputes and to cut off the cost of costly coverage litigation.

Joanne has spoken at seminars sponsored by the CPCU Society and also speaks before national insurance companies.

The Insurance Coverage Practice Group since 2016 has been included in the Chambers USA directory in the Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer category. In addition, the group is included in the Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys.
