Jason B. Gurdus concentrates his practice on insurance coverage litigation and commercial litigation, as well as related counseling.
Jason represents insurance and reinsurance companies with respect to coverage disputes, arbitrations, and mediations, including insurance coverage issues relating to trademark infringement and copyright infringement. He also handles a variety of other business torts.
Jason prosecutes and defends actions on behalf of insurance and reinsurance companies in New York State and federal courts, as well as state and federal courts throughout the United States.
Beyond his insurance coverage practice, Jason litigates trademark and copyright infringement cases in courts throughout the country, including Internet and cyber-related intellectual property disputes and business and commercial torts such as unfair competition, Lanham Act claims, false advertising, and disparagement.
In addition, Jason assists owners, contractors, and developers in various construction matters, including contract negotiation, payment disputes, delay claims, and performance disputes. He has represented contractors and owners in the prosecution and defense of multi-million dollar actions arising from large commercial projects in the New York Metropolitan area.
While at Hofstra University School of Law, Jason was an associate editor of the Hofstra Law Review and his article, Protection Off of the Playing Field: Student Athletes Should Be Considered University Employees for Purposes of Workers’ Compensation, was published at 29 Hofstra L. Rev. 907 (2001).
The Insurance Coverage Practice Group since 2016 has been included in the Chambers USA directory in the Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer category. In addition, the group is included in the 2016 Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys.
