Garin Scollan is an associate in Rivkin Radler’s Insurance Fraud Practice Group.
Garin helps insurers prosecute civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters, and others involved in complex large scale insurance fraud schemes.
Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Garin served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he acted as lead counsel in numerous jury trials. As a trial attorney in the District Court Bureau, Garin successfully prosecuted misdemeanor offenses, including sex crimes, gang cases, assault, DWI, drug possession, and other criminal offenses. Garin was responsible for all aspects of these criminal cases, including investigations, motion practice, plea negotiations, and trials.
Garin graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut, where he majored in Finance. While at Wake Forest University School of Law, Garin served as an article editor for the Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law.
