Matthew A. Lampert

Partner

Matthew A. Lampert defends personal injury, construction/labor law claims, premises liability, Child Victims Act and motor vehicle collision cases. He represents Rivkin Radler’s clients in all phases of the defense of these claims through trial verdict.

Matt is well versed in handling high exposure Construction/Labor Law lawsuits involving alleged violations of Labor Law §§200, 240(1), and 241(6) and the New York State Industrial Code and aggressively investigates and pursues potential risk transfer opportunities on behalf of property owners and tenants, as well as contractors.

Matt’s experience is wide-ranging. In addition to representing commercial and residential property owners and tenants, contractors, subcontractors and major religious institutions, Matt was a Senior Trial Attorney and State Prosecutor in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, where he successfully prosecuted violent felony and vehicular homicide cases, including New York State’s first case of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide.

Matt has responded to, investigated and prosecuted vehicle collision cases involving catastrophic injuries and fatalities, using a wide range of evidence obtained from the motor vehicles themselves, in addition to factors in the environment surrounding the collisions.

Matt has attended USLAW’s Trucking Boot Camp in Omaha, Nebraska, and has contributed to USLAW’s National Compendium of Law for the State of New York, a resource that gives users access to common and statutory law regarding a variety of procedural and litigation-oriented issues. The National Compendium addresses issues that arise prior to the commencement of litigation through trial and on to appeal.

One of Matt’s previous civil trials was discussed in a well-known New York jury verdict reporter for Matt’s successful introduction into evidence of prior, unsworn deposition testimony as a Business Record during a jury trial in which he obtained a Defense Verdict for his client.

Matt also leverages his vast experience garnered at the District Attorney’s Office – where he presented hundreds of cases and investigations to the Nassau County Grand Jury and tried to verdict over 35 criminal trials – in his role as partner in the Firm’s Compliance, Investigations & White Collar Practice Group.

During Matt’s tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, he served as a frequent lecturer for the District Attorney’s “Choices and Consequences” program. As part of the program, presented to high school students and their parents at numerous high schools throughout Nassau County, Matt described the dangers of drunk driving by using actual cases that he prosecuted as examples. It was during this tenure that Matt received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Award for his dedication and service to MADD’s mission.

While at Hofstra University School of Law, Matt served as President of Hofstra’s Moot Court Association. Upon his graduation, he received Hofstra Law’s School’s “Distinguished Service to the School” Award and the “Deborah Sloyer Memorial Scholarship in Trial Advocacy” Award.

Matt is a former Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association Defendant’s Personal Injury Committee. Matt was named a Super Lawyer in the Metro New York Area in PI General Defense in 2023.
