Ryan Goldberg has helped insurers achieve multimillion-dollar judgments and settlements in fraud cases and has helped develop case law that is used to combat insurance fraud.

A partner in Rivkin Radler’s Insurance Fraud and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups, Ryan handles all aspects of complex affirmative and commercial litigation in federal and state courts.

Ryan counsels automobile, property and life insurers on claims-handling practices and investigation techniques, and works with them to develop fraud prevention, detection and recovery plans.  Ryan also defends insurers in actions challenging their claim-handling practices.  Ryan has also represented prominent developers in collections actions.  Some of Ryan’s notable cases include:

  • GEICO v. Gateva, 2014 WL 1330846 (E.D.N.Y. 2014) (obtaining multimillion-dollar judgment against various individuals and entities involved in a fraudulent insurance scheme).
  • GEICO v. Damien, 2011 WL 11038949 (E.D.N.Y. 2011) (granting insurer pre-judgment order of attachment in excess of $3,000,000).
  • State Farm Mut. Auto Ins. Co. v. Ligouri, 2008 WL 5204468 (E.D.N.Y. 2008) (overcoming defendants’ motion to dismiss federal action based on a complex insurance fraud scheme).

Ryan also assists firm clients in judgment collection efforts and legal actions to enforce judgments and has successfully recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Ryan is on the Board of Directors for Harbor Child Care and the Merrick Bellmore Little League.  He also participates in Rivkin Radler’s pro bono program, where he represents the indigent in landlord-tenant disputes.

He was named one of the Top 40 Rising Stars in Business Under 40 by Long Island Business News in 2016.

An American history buff and avid reader, Ryan also enjoys watching and participating in a variety of sports.
