Evan R. Schieber, a commercial and real estate litigator, concentrates his practice on condominium and cooperative law, as well as corporate disputes.

A partner in Rivkin Radler’s Commercial Litigation, Construction and Real Estate, Zoning & Land Use Practice Groups, Evan has acted as lead counsel in complex litigations involving commercial, real estate, and construction matters.  He represents major real estate developers and property owners and advises condominium and cooperative boards, managing agents, owners of unsold shares, and owners of blocks of condominium units in all aspects of cooperative and condominium law.

Evan has successfully litigated sponsor control and construction defect claims concerning newly-constructed condominiums and conversion projects.  He regularly handles lender liability, foreclosure matters, and employment and corporate controversies.

Evan’s reported cases include:

  • Cetindogan v. Schuyler, 95 A.D.3d 577 (1st Dept. 2012);     
  • Rozina v. Casa 74th Dev. LLC, 89 A.D.3d 508 (1st Dept. 2011);
  • Board of Managers of the Amherst Condominium v. C.C. Ming (USA) Ltd. P’ship., 308 A.D.2d 380 (1st Dept. 2003);
  • Math v. Estate of Sol Goldman, 272 A.D.2d 108 (1st Dept. 2000);
  • Currid v. 360 Brooklyn Investors, LLC, 906 N.Y.S.2d 778 (Sup. Ct. Kings Co. 2009).

A member of the Council of New York Cooperatives and Condominiums, Evan has particular knowledge of, and experience with, the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act.  He has commented on and explained the intricacies of cooperative and condominium law for Crain’s, The New York Times, and the Real Deal.

Evan earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a Richardson Scholar.
